HANA Family Photography

Although most families visiting Hana will find plenty of photographers to choose from, the most essential part of selecting a family photographer is ensuring that you like their work. The second thing you should look for is that their pricing is within your budget. You clearly want to get the best deal possible while also searching for quality.
The most difficult aspect to determine before meeting the person is how they make you feel when they shoot. You won’t be able to get to know them until you meet them, and most Hana families only meet their photographer on the day of the event. Start by exploring testimonials and evaluations to see how people feel about how they made them feel.
One of the hardest things for a photographer to do is take pictures of families with kids. The smaller the children, the more difficult it is to get them to concentrate. Especially when there are many children present. Always keep an eye out for reviews or suggestions. Where parents claim that a photographer was excellent with children. There are many other factors to consider when choosing a photographer in Hana, but these are the top three on my list.

What should you wear on the day of your shoot?
Most people enjoy wearing Hawaiian-style clothing, including floral blouses, flowers, and hairstyles. This is always a safe bet because it’s the simplest method to show others that you’re on a shore in Hawaii. These Hawaiian-style outfits for your photographic shoot are readily available at stores such as Walmart, Target, Ross, and even some ma and paw shops.
If you’re having trouble matching your outfits with the rest of your family, dressing in white or natural colours like tans always looks fantastic on video. When I photograph families, I try to bring out the blues in the ocean and the greens in the backdrops, so avoid wearing those colours.
Light, natural blues and greens are fine; however, I would avoid vibrant colours such as reds, blues, and yellows. It’s your family photo during the day, so wear however you want! Please do not hesitate to reach me if you have any wardrobe-related concerns. Most people do anyway.

What are the finest photography locations on Hana?
As simple as it is to answer this question, it is also quite difficult because Hana is a beautiful and magical location where you can photograph almost anywhere. Sometimes the only thing you have to be concerned about is the weather. However, a skilled Hana photographer can edit pictures taken on a bad weather day to make them appear excellent!
There are many lovely sites to choose from if you want the usual beach picture. If you are staying in the Westside region of Lahaina, Kapalua Bay is a wonderful beach for family pictures.
There are many lovely beaches in Kihei and Wailea if you stay in South Hana. If you’d like to see some samples, please email me and I’ll show you some photographic hits I’ve done for families so you can pick your favourite.
In my opinion, the finest beach for underwater photography is Black Rock Beach in Lahaina. Only because turtles visit that region, making it easier to capture those incredible images. The rock jump also has three various levels to jump from, making it convenient for children and people who do not want to jump from the highest spot, which is approximately 30 feet high. The water at the bottom of the jump is crystal pure and exceptionally blue. Ideal for undersea photography and videography.
Another advantage of taking family photographs in Hana is that you can capture in the island’s jungle regions. There are some beautiful and green rainforest locations for family pictures. There are some spots near town where you may take pictures in front of some big yellow bamboo shoots.
There are also beautiful waterfalls where you can take beautiful family pictures and jump off the waterfalls that aren’t too scary. Twin Falls is a lovely privately owned park with spectacular waterfalls within a short walk. It’s only about a 30-45-minute journey from the airport and a fantastic location for Hana family photos.
If you want to go underwater scuba diving, there is a great boat called Hana Snorkeling that travels to Molikini, where you can also get some stunning underwater snorkeling family pictures.
Another excellent location for photography is the island of Lanai, which is only $50 round journey per a person. Children under the age of two are free.
When you arrive on Lanai, there is an amazing massive rock structure that circles the shore, and it is only a 15 to 20 minute walk from the ferry. You can also make it a picnic and beach day by bringing a wagon and a cooler.

When are the ideal times to shoot?
The most appropriate times to take family photos in Hana are during sunset. The hours vary slightly from season to season, but are typically between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. I’ve also captured some stunning images during dawn, which comes between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
At noon, the sun is generally right above your head. This is when the light is harshest on your face and casts undesirable shadows in photos.
Don’t get me wrong, you can take gorgeous photographs in the sun, but for family images, you want that softer light that comes with sunsets and sunrises.

How fast do you get your photos?
It entirely relies on what package you get, but I’m very fast at turning photos around. I typically edit within 1 to 3 working days and then give you a link to download your pictures. Videos can take a little longer to get ready, typically between 1 and 2 weeks. Depending on how occupied I am, I can sometimes accomplish them fast.
Hana is active all year, so there is never much time off. Summers are extremely busy, winters are extremely busy, and there are always a large number of families searching for a shooter.
It’s a lot of joy to shoot on Hana. You’ll have an amazing time shooting with me no matter where you photograph. I’m amazing with kids because I have three of my own, so I can be patient when they’re fussy and make them giggle and smile. I also know a lot of hidden places that most photographers are unaware of.
